Overview
 
Holt Engineering is representing a growing organisation within the EV infrastructure sector seeking a Field Service Technician to support the commissioning, maintenance and repair of AC, Rapid DC and High-Power EV charging systems across customer sites throughout the UK.
 
This role is suited to a technically capable electrical engineer with hands-on experience in installation, maintenance or field-based repair environments, who can work independently while delivering high-quality technical support across a variety of operational environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring EV charging infrastructure operates safely, efficiently and in line with industry and client standards.
 
Essential requirements
  • Level 3 Electro-technical qualification or equivalent
  • 2–5 years’ experience within electrical installation, maintenance or repair
  • Experience working within SLA-driven environments
  • Familiarity with electrical testing equipment
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability
  • Good communication and customer-facing skills
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable requirements
  • Experience in EV charging, renewable energy, or power electronics
  • EV charging certifications or manufacturer-specific training
  • Experience working with Rapid DC, Ultra, or HPC chargers
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals
  • Understanding of analogue and digital electronics
  • Strong awareness of site health & safety requirements
Key responsibilities
  • Commission and configure AC and Rapid DC EV chargers at client sites
  • Carry out initial setup, testing, and validation to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance to maximise uptime and performance
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software-related faults
  • Conduct diagnostic testing, firmware updates, and calibration of EV chargers
  • Replace faulty components or complete units in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
  • Work closely with Service Coordination and Operations teams to ensure accurate job reporting and timely follow-up
  • Collaborate with project and installation teams to support seamless deployment of charging infrastructure
  • Provide on-site technical support and basic user guidance to clients
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company assets in good working condition
  • Accurately document all service activities within the service management system
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations and electrical standards
  • Participate in ongoing safety training and certification programmes
